During the first week of March (March 3-8), the Marist house in El Escorial welcomed participants of a pioneering training initiative that combined Personal Accompaniment and Tutorial Action (APAT), aimed at tutors from 10 years old and upwards.
On this occasion, 25 tutors had the opportunity to immerse themselves in accompaniment and discover their educational keys, focused on personalization and unconditional support towards the student. Since it is the first time this course has been integrated into the training offered by the MRE, it featured distinguished speakers specialized in the subject.
The meeting was interdisciplinary, addressing all dimensions of the student in our educational centers: “Me with myself, Me with others, Me with the world, and Me with God.” At the initiative of the participants, a virtual repository of materials was created at the end of the course. This resource will provide the possibility for students to access individual tutorials from each of these perspectives.
Another remarkable aspect was the reflection on accompaniment from an affective standpoint, a recurring concern in the school environment that we attempted to address in collaboration with families.
We deeply appreciate the tutors’ interest in enhancing their training and in being, more than just teachers, companions – in other words, being more witnesses than professors, due to the fact that as we live we educate, and this is what we do day by day in Marist schools.
