International Solidarity Network moves forward
We Marists are called to be beacons of hope as a global charismatic family.
This call marked the start of the II Assembly of the International Solidarity Network in which representatives of the different provinces of the Marist European Region participated. Brother Ernesto Sánchez, Superior General of the Marist Institute, was in charge of inaugurating this online meeting, in which he recalled that solidarity is at the essence of Marists who are “called to be beacons of hope as a global charismatic family”.
The II Assembly of the Marist Solidarity Network lasted several days with moments of sharing among the representatives of all the regions and provinces of the world, and also spaces for group work that revolved around five areas: integral ecology, the rights of the child, NGOs and foundations, education in solidarity and social works.
The assembly served to resume the work of the international solidarity network, to promote collaboration and synergies in all that is already being done in these areas as well as to dream together new lines of joint action.
Brother Luis Carlos, Vicar General of the Marist Institute, was in charge of closing this meeting and, in his words, he described the meaning of solidarity for Marists, which is “a deep call that fills our hearts” and invites us to “build bridges” in a broad sense, of collaboration and networking, but also of reaching out to the margins and the emerging needs that surround us.
