The TV programme "Testimonio" of La2 of Televisión Española interviews Brother Eugenio Sanz on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Martyrs of Bugobe.
Last Sunday, January 16th, La2 of Televisión Española dedicated its programme “Testimonio” to the Brothers Martyrs of Bugobe. Eugenio Sanz, a Brother of the Iberian Province, who is currently living his mission of solidarity in Bangladesh, was interviewed. In the year of the murder of the Brothers of Bugobe (1996), he was also stationed in Rwanda. Eugenio, together with three other Brothers, was in the interior of the country, which at the time was experiencing a bloody civil war that has gone down in history as the Rwandan genocide. Our four Bugobe Brothers were assigned to the refugee camp of Nyamirangwe, near the Congolese region of Bugobe, on the border with Rwanda.
Their story is one of love, of selfless dedication to the thousands of refugees living in the camp. In the most difficult moment, they decided to stay by the side of all those men, women and children. On 31 October 2021 we commemorate the 25th anniversary of their assassination. In this new year 2022 we continue to remember their example and life testimony: #TheyLovedUntilTheEnd and gave their lives to continue fulfilling their mission, to help and protect people in need. Their memory lives on in our spirit and in our hearts.
