Lluís Agustí, of the Province of L’Hermitage, came to our house at El Escorial for a few days to involve us in an activity they were carrying out to work on Marist identity with the educators. We liked the experience and, immediately, a team of intrepid people embarked on the exciting task of designing what is now our “Marcellin 3.0”.
It was a matter of creating a program in which, in a few days, we could meet the challenge of updating and making the participants “fall in love” again with their vocation as Marist educators, of caring for them and helping them to continue to carry Marcellin Champagnat’s dream into their daily lives in the centers. And what better way to do it than with the simile of what is involved in updating the operating system of a computer, which at that time began to call loudly to enter our classrooms and there they have remained, taking on a leading role.
Throughout these years, about 400 educators of the Iberian Province (in the broadest sense: computer specialists, teachers, secretaries, janitors, librarians…) have enjoyed this experience, designed at the beginning with great enthusiasm and continued year after year with a strong commitment of people and means, enriched with the great welcome provided by our houses in Alcalá de Henares and Lardero.
If you have already participated, I am sure that many of you will have smiled when remembering this experience and it will have brought back good memories. For those of you who have not been, we can’t tell you much… since we are very clear that “what happens in Alcalá or Lardero, stays in Alcalá or Lardero”.
