The Marist Provinces of Compostela, Ibérica and Mediterránea have signed collaboration agreements with Betania, an independent association for the reception and accompaniment of victims of sexual abuse in religious institutional contexts, in cases that have been brought before the ordinary justice system.
For the Marist institution, the protection of children is a priority and we condemn any situation of abuse, apologize to the victims and place ourselves at their disposal. In this sense, the three Marist provinces have Child and Adolescent Protection Teams which, among their functions, are to welcome, listen to and accompany the victims, both present and past.
The Association for the reception and accompaniment Betania was born in 2019 to accompany victims of sexual abuse in religious institutional contexts. It has a team of independent professionals who offer a service of welcome, listening and accompaniment to victims aimed at the integral recovery and reparation of the person.
Based on the agreements signed, Betania collaborates as an independent association with the network work that the Marist Provinces have been carrying out with different organizations involved in the protection of children and youth, the defense of their rights and the prevention, awareness and action in these matters.
Any person who has been the object of abuse or who has witnessed a case that has already been prescribed can contact the Child Protection Teams (contigo@maristascompostela.org, protecciondelmenor@maristasiberica.com, atulado@maristasmediterranea.com) or the Betania Association (acogida@acogidabetania.es).
