After the call for peace made by Brother Ernesto Sánchez, Superior of the Marist Brothers of the Schools Institute, the members of the European Marist Youth Team (EJEM) along with the European Pastoral Team (EEP) have invited the Marist community of Europe to gather in a time of prayer and intercession. This invitation is also extended to anyone else who wishes to join this initiative.
Given the numerous violent conflicts happening in the world, where children have been exposed to the horrors of war and sadly become victims of these armed conflicts, this invitation is a demonstration of unity in the values of the founder of the Marist Brothers congregation, Marcellin Champagnat. For him, unity and fraternity were fundamental pillars in the construction of society.
On this occasion, it is the youth of the Marist Europe who have considered that the best way to express this unity is through prayer, interceding for the emotional, physical, personal, and spiritual needs of the thousands of people experiencing dramatic situations in very challenging scenarios around the world.
The call to the community involves gathering for 10 minutes, via Zoom, on the next four Mondays: November 27, and December 4, 11, and 18. All these prayer sessions will be at 8:00 PM (Spain time). There will be simultaneous translation in nine languages of the Marist European region: German, Spanish, French, Greek, English, Hungarian, Italian (“Valenciano” channel on Zoom), Portuguese and Romanian.
The previously mentioned European teams express their gratitude in advance to the attendees for their empathy and solidarity with the victims, while also acknowledging and thanking the colleagues from Marists Catalonia (Province of L’Hermitage), source of this noble initiative.
